“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
~J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
Fork in My Eye
/ April 22, 2012I love the Tolkein quote coupled with these photos (which are beautiful be the way). Now that our sons are in their teens (and one is grown), it’s much harder to drag them away from their computers and video games and Dungeons and Dragons sessions to get them outside. It’s been a while since I went for a walk in the woods with any of my boys. You’ve created a lovely blog. I’m looking forward to exploring it more and seeing what is to come.

/ April 22, 2012I’m glad you caught the coordination of photos with the quote. When it fell into place it was a delightful surprise indeed! I always try to match photo with quote. Works sometimes, sometimes not. Either way, I try to bring words and visuals of peace and hope, sometimes humor.
Glad this prompted the walks—they so easily become springboards of discovery and reflection. It doesn’t get much better than a parent with child—no matter the age—and a good nature walk. So simple. Add a good dog to the bunch and it’s complete.

/ April 23, 2012Oh, one more thing. Once you start the walks, be available and ready for you will begin to hear, “Hey, can we go for a walk?”

/ April 23, 2012Oh, these photos are just to lovely. I was going to say I love the first one the most, but then I realized I really loved the others just as much. Is this a response to the photo challenge? If so, great choice.
Just wanted to stop by and thank you for the comment you left on my Freshly Pressed post last week–Top 10 Reasons to Join the Bloggy Blast. Sorry it has taken me nearly a week to get here. Hope you will stop by again soon!
Hugs,
Kathy

/ April 24, 2012Thank you so much, Kathy. Don’t worry about the time. You were Freshly Pressed and I’m sure you were overwhelmed replying to everyone—congrats on that! I’m honored you replied and stopped by my place. This photo set was not in response to the photo challenge but I’ll take a look into it. Thanks for the encouragement to do so.
Enjoyed your Top Ten Reasons post. I will stop by your place again!
Peace,

/ May 9, 2012Beautiful images. The words were warm and inspiring. “All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost.” Like the radiance of the Sun’s early morning rays…Thanks.

/ May 9, 2012Yes, I thought the images went with the words. Pure metaphor of spring. That last flower looked so kingly to me.
Thanks again for your comments.

/ May 25, 2012This was an amazing portrayal of new spring to me. Just as spring follows winter, so our lives mirror a time of winter—reflection, rest, and rejuvenation—and suddenly we burst forth with new strength, exuberance, and joy. We sing with spring and become “kingly” in our own way.
Thank you for taking the time to comment.
Peace to you,
Alexandria
