“When pain is to be borne, a little courage helps more than much knowledge, a little human sympathy more than much courage, and the least tincture of the love of God more than all.”
~ C.S. Lewis The Problem of Pain

/ April 22, 2012It’s funny to me that the second quote I saw on your blog after Tolkien was C.S. Lewis. the two are forever linked in my mine. I wrote a paper years ago in high school about literature as a path to faith (or not) based largely on their correspondence. My mother was trying at the time to coax me into the Catholic Church. (I tried. It didn’t work.)

/ April 22, 2012Following the Lewis with Tolkien was not in the plan but I see how it may appear to those familiar with both. As you know well, they were the closest of friends. In trying to portray the bursting glory of spring I ran across this Tolkien quote. It was perfect. By the way, thank you so much for following SimplySage.
